Sunday Bulletin (Original)

Welcome to Jesmond

United Reformed Church

 Sunday 22nd March 2020

Dear All,

It will come as no surprise that all church services and meetings at JURC are

cancelled for the time being, in keeping with the guidance of the URC and other

denominations. Information about alternative worship opportunities and

resources will be available as soon as possible. These are trying times for all of us

It will be a priority to keep in touch with everyone in the fellowship in the

coming months.

From next week, the weekly ‘bulletin’ will become more of a ‘newsletter’, and

will be sent out electronically or by post to all members and adherents. Along

with the ‘bulletin’, Revd Ruth Crofton has kindly offered to write a weekly

‘message’ which will also be sent to everyone. This will also be displayed in the

external church noticeboards, to show that the church is ‘alive’ although not

meeting for services. We will also be highlighting the prayer box outside the

A ‘newsletter’ needs ‘news’, so please send me any news or other items

for inclusion, so that we can all keep in touch.

There will be more information in next week’s ‘bulletin’. Meantime, keep safe.

With love and prayers,

May we who are merely inconvenienced

Remember those whose lives are at stake.

May we who have no risk factors

Remember those most vulnerable.

May we who have the luxury of working from home

Remember those who must choose between

preserving their health or making their rent.

May we who have the flexibility to care for our

children when their schools close

Remember those who have no options.

May we who have to cancel our trips

Remember those who have no safe place to go.

May we who are losing our margin money

In the tumult of the economic market

Remember those who have no margin at all.

May we who settle in for a quarantine at home

Remember those who have no home.

As fear grips our country,

Let us choose love.

During this time when we cannot physically

wrap our arms around each other,

Let us find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbours.

Jesmond URC is at present in vacancy. At our Church Meeting on 22nd September 2019 we agreed to form a joint pastorate with St James’s, St Andrew’s Kenton, and West End URCs, to be known as the North West and Central Newcastle Joint Pastorate. We look forward to this collaboration and to the eventual appointment of a Minister of Word and Sacrament for the group.
