How to encourage wildlife into your garden – Newcastle 21st September

Free practical event for all to enjoy – children must be with an accompanying adult

Please bring gardening gloves, a trowel and secateurs – if you have them – if you don’t – it doesn’t matter!

Drop in during the day and stay for as long as you wish  – its being held in the Haldane House Community Wildlife Garden. 

10.00  Gardening for wildlife – Introduction

10.05 Bugs and beasties – Making a bug hotel

11.00 Frogs, hedgehogs, mice, shrews and rabbits – how to encourage them into your garden! If you want to.

12.00 Lunch – please bring  a packed lunch and warm drink

13.00 Butterflies and bees – taking and propagating hardwood and softwood cuttings of plants , and attracting pollinators

14.00 Garden Birds  – making a feeder and what to do to attract them

15.00 Collecting seeds and sowing them

15.30 end

Organ recital by Kris Thomsett – (Assistant Director of Music at Newcastle Cathedral)

Songs of Praise – led by Ann Sinclair – hymn requests welcome

Folk Music in Jesmond – free concert by Axum on 13th Sept.

When: Friday 13th September at 7.30pm

Who: Axum Folk Ensemble will be appearing with Storiella

What: Its a free concert of traditional music and song

Where: at Jesmond United Reformed Church

Why: our church is open as part of the heritage weekend and so we wanted to have fun and music as well!

Piano Star performs in Jesmond

We are delighted to announce that James Barker, winner of the ABRSM Sheila Mossman Prize for the highest mark in Grade 8 Piano in 2018 will perform in the Church at 1pm on Saturday 6th July – all are welcome
