Being Christians involves giving of ourselves and of what we have. Sometimes we give tangible gifts. We donate Christmas presents for children. We send harvest gifts to asylum seekers or the People’s Kitchen.
Sometimes we give money: the distribution is decided by all members together in the Church Meeting. From our common budget each year, we donate money to support Robin & Alison Whaley through Operation Mobilisation and we also support two children through World Vision.
Our retiring offerings tend to focus on local projects and those with whom we have some personal connection. We also raise money through occasional appeals.
Prominent among these are our collections for the “Commitment for Life” programme of the United Reformed Church. Through this we support projects of Christian Aid and take a particular interest in work in Bangladesh.
Other charities we have helped recently are:
South Sinai Foundation
Practical Compassion for Destitute Children in the Holy Land
West End Refugee Service
