Heritage Lottery grant to restore the colour of the Tyneside Scottish (4th Battalion)

Success!

The church is custodian of the Colour of the Tyneside Scottish (4th Battalion), whose officers and men suffered greatly during the Battle of the Somme. A number of church families lost their sons in the conflict. The Colour is at present awaiting conservation, before being returned to the church. We are delighted to tell you that we have been awarded a grant of £9000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, for restoration of the Colour, and to fund a related programme of events over the next two years.

Please help us with this wonderful project, more details about how to get involved or to make a donation are available here

More information about the 4th can be found here and the details of those who made the ultimate sacrifice can be found here
